Mattress cleaning in Bennington, and where a Bennington mattress can go
We clean mattresses in Bennington. Bennington is a separate city in northwest Douglas County, so Omaha's free Cleanup Saturdays don't cover it. For an old mattress, start with the trash and yard waste contact on the City of Bennington's services page, or ask your hauler for a bulk pickup; Pheasant Point Landfill at Highway 36 and 216th Street is the nearby drop-off, with fees that may apply.

Bennington is outside Omaha’s programs
Bennington runs its own city government from 15505 Warehouse Street, and it isn’t part of Omaha. That matters for a mattress because Omaha’s free Fall Cleanup Saturdays, October 3, 10, 17 and 24 in 2026, are for City of Omaha households, and the River City bulky program is for residents inside Omaha city limits. A Bennington address qualifies for neither.
What the City of Bennington does publish is a services directory. Its utilities page sends gas, sewer and water to MUD and electricity to OPPD, and its services page lists a separate phone number for trash and yard waste, (402) 238-2455. That’s the first call when a Bennington mattress needs to go. Papillion Sanitation also names Bennington in its residential service area; if it’s your hauler, a bulk pickup is scheduled ahead, costs extra and needs the mattress wrapped in plastic.
The landfill up the road
Pheasant Point Landfill is at Highway 36 and 216th Street, and the Omaha Recycling Guide lists it as an option for mattresses with flat rates or special handling fees that may apply. Waste Management’s office at 13505 N 216th Street carries a Bennington address. Call (866) 909-4458 before you load a truck, because the guide doesn’t publish a mattress fee.
Bennington housing by the numbers
Bennington is small: 1,101 housing units in the Census Bureau’s 2020 to 2024 survey. Its median year built is 2002, but the margin of error is plus or minus eight years, the widest on our area list, because the sample is small. About 37% of units were built in 2010 or later and about 16% before 1970, and about 60% are single-family detached houses.
So a Bennington appointment is as likely to be in a house finished in the last fifteen years as in one from before 1970. Neither changes the method; the mattress does. The survey doesn’t ask about basements. Sleep Sanitation’s guide to cleaning a mattress after a move is worth reading if you moved into a Bennington house with a bed you brought along.
Bed bugs and Douglas County
Bennington is in Douglas County, where the Douglas County Health Department’s pest page describes its role with bed bugs as education, since they have not been shown to be a vector of disease. Questions go to its Environmental Health section at (402) 444-7485; treatment goes to a licensed pest professional, and cleaning comes after. This page is general information, not medical advice. Check your care label and warranty terms before booking; the areas page lists what stays the same at every address.
What we don’t know
- Who answers the Bennington trash line. The city lists the number but not a company name, so we haven’t confirmed whether Bennington has a single contracted hauler.
- A Bennington cleanup event. None was posted on the city’s site when we checked.
