Getting the beds ready for a new baby in Omaha

Clean the beds the adults sleep on, and any older sibling's twin or full, two to four weeks before the due date. Leave the crib mattress to its manufacturer's label. Nebraska DHHS teaches the ABCs of safe sleep: baby Alone, on the Back, in a Crib, on a firm, flat surface with no pillows, blankets or soft add-ons. The first mattress is $249, any size. Call or text (402) 512-5658.

Which beds should you clean before the baby comes?

The ones people sleep on: your own mattress, where night feeds and daytime naps for tired parents happen, and any older sibling’s twin or full. If grandparents are coming to Omaha to help, the guest bed belongs on the list too; see resetting the guest-room mattress.

The crib is the exception. We leave it to the crib mattress manufacturer’s label and to the safe-sleep guidance below.

What does Nebraska’s safe-sleep guidance say about the crib?

Nebraska DHHS teaches the ABCs: Alone, on the Back, in a Crib. Its Safe Sleep and SIDS page adds a firm, flat surface, room-sharing on the baby’s own surface, and no soft objects, pillows, blankets or loose bedding in the sleep space. That is why we don’t sell toppers, pads or anything else for a crib, and why a clean adult bed is never a reason to bed-share. The national version is NICHD’s Safe to Sleep campaign.

How does Omaha’s weather change the timing?

Babies due in late spring or summer arrive in Omaha’s most humid months. NOAA’s normals put the average July dew point at Eppley near 66°F. That doesn’t rule out a visit; it means keeping the air conditioning or a dehumidifier running, keeping the bed unmade until it is dry to the touch, and trusting the moisture check we run after service rather than an open window.

Winter babies have the opposite calendar problem: holiday weeks. Book before Thanksgiving week if the due date is in December.

Is it time to replace a mattress instead?

If your mattress sags, smells musty after a basement summer, or has been through more than a cleaning can fix, we will say so during the inspection. Omaha’s curbside carts don’t take mattresses; the Omaha mattress disposal guide lists the drop-off options and Cleanup Saturdays.

What happens during the visit?

A material inspection, low-moisture dry vapor steam on the surface, seams, tufts and edges, HEPA vacuuming and UV-C light treatment, with organic methods by default. Every visit includes a moisture check after service and the built-in bed mite sensor on our UV-C vacuum. The optional 72-hour bedroom CO₂ test is a separate service, priced by quote, and it isn’t a medical test.

What does it cost in Omaha?

The first mattress is $249, any size, with normal stains, pet odor and ordinary urine accidents included. Each additional full, queen or king in the same visit is $199, each additional kids' bed (twin or full) is $149, and underside treatment is +$50–$75 per mattress. Severe or biohazard cases carry a surcharge we quote before starting.

Questions Omaha households ask

When should we book before the baby arrives?

Two to four weeks before the due date. That leaves room if the baby comes early and keeps the visit out of the first weeks home. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.

Do you clean crib mattresses?

Crib mattresses aren't on our standard price list. Follow the crib mattress manufacturer's care label, and if the mattress is damaged or doesn't fit the crib snugly, replace it. Nebraska DHHS's guidance is a firm, flat surface with nothing soft added.

Can I put a mattress topper or pad on the crib mattress?

Nebraska DHHS says to keep soft, fluffy objects, pillows, blankets and loose bedding out of the baby's sleep space, so the crib mattress stays bare except for a fitted sheet. Ask your pediatrician about any product you are unsure of.

Should the baby sleep in our bed once it's cleaned?

No. A clean mattress doesn't change the safe-sleep advice. Nebraska DHHS says the baby can sleep in the same room as you, but on their own surface.

The baby is due in July. Is summer a bad time to have a mattress cleaned?

No, but keep the air conditioning running. Omaha's July dew point averages about 66°F at Eppley. The bed stays unmade until it is dry to the touch, and we run a moisture check after service.

What will it cost to do our bed and a sibling's bed?

$249 for the first mattress, any size, then $199 for each additional full, queen or king and $149 for each additional kids' bed (twin or full) in the same visit. See Omaha pricing.
